Kevin R. Hershberger
Kevin R. Hershberger is an Emmy-nominated director, producer, and screenwriter based in Richmond, Virginia, known for his extensive work on nationally broadcast and internationally distributed historical documentary series and docudramas for more than 25 years.
Before his career as a filmmaker, Kevin served as a Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army, following his graduation from the Virginia Military Institute in 1995 with a degree in International Studies and History.
He wrote and directed his first feature film, Wicked Spring (2002), an award-winning Civil War drama that earned multiple honors, including Best Director and Best Action Feature at the New York International Independent Film Festival, establishing Hershberger’s reputation for combining cinematic craft with historical accuracy.
His recent credits include directing multiple seasons of "Legends & Lies" (Fox News Channel), "Deadly Shootouts" (REELZ), "Killer Kids" (LMN), "Triggers: Weapons that Changed the World" (Discovery), "America: Facts vs. Fiction" (American Heroes Channel), and "Church: Secrets & Legends" (Travel Channel). He was also nominated for a News & Documentary Emmy for his work on the Discovery mini-series "Patriots Rising: The American Revolution."
Hershberger has directed and produced more than two dozen multi-part documentary series for television and home entertainment, including "Up From Slavery," "Emancipation Road," "Vietnam: 50 Years Remembered," "The Ultimate Civil War Series," and "NASA: A Journey Through Space." His work has been seen by millions through streaming, international broadcast, and the sale of over 1 million DVDs/Blu-rays.
In addition to television, Kevin served as Co-Producer, Costume Designer, and Historical Advisor on the feature film "Field of Lost Shoes" and as Producer and Costume Designer for “Finding Josephine." He continues to collaborate with networks like National Geographic, History Channel, Smithsonian, PBS, and the National Park Service.
